Reminder: We need the bike corridor!

Please see the note from Heather Stewart below and make sure to add your voice to this project!!

This is really important additional corridor for cyclists, hikers and walkers to go from Kelowna to Vernon. It also has the potential to address a cycling pathway to UBCO.

We have a wonderful opportunity to have a rail trail from Kelowna to Vernon if the current bid to continue it as a railway does not go forward. It currently looks unlikely that it will continue to operate as a railway.
We need 30,000 support emails within the next 6 weeks, to convince the politicians that there is support for this initiative. We would very much appreciate having you add a link on your site, to encourage individuals to go to the following link, and add a very short message of support. It takes less than 1 minute.

If you need any more info, let me know. Thanks

End of Cycling Season Party 2013

To all Beez and cyclists

Lawrence and Mary Berg have kindly offered to host the end of season party 2013. It will happen at their home at 465 Glenwood Avenue (1 block north of the hospital) at 6pm on November 30 (Saturday).
Please BYOB and a little bit of nibbles to share.
Lawrence and Mary have a family member with chemical injury, so they ask that guests do not wear scents when they come to the party. This includes scented deodorants, shampoos and perfumes. It especially includes fabric softeners in clothing, which can cause significant problems for their family member. If you are unsure about any of this, please send Lawrence an email at [email protected] and he will be happy to answer your queries.
Hope to see you all there. Please bring your spouses and please tell the cyclists who don’t read this blog.

New Start Time: 10am

What a beautiful sunny ride this morning!

From next week on (Sunday, October 20) … we will be starting at 10am from the Bean Scene on Dickson Road. Give it another hour to warm up … and we should have a few more weeks left until the ski season starts! See you there!

Labour Day Weekend …

… Started with a lovely Saturday ride in perfect temperatures. Tomorrow, Sunday, the regular Sunday ride leaves at 9am from the Bean Scene on Dickson. Michael is doing a modified Green Mountain ride; see post below.
If you are up for a holiday ride (40-50km), meet us at 10am on Monday at Kelowna Cycle.
Happy Riding!

And here is a picture of today’s ride:

Special Ride July 7

From Michael:

On Sunday July 07. we are going on very nice ride to Mabel Lake. We leave from Coldstream to Lumby to Mabel Lake and back, about 120km. We will meet at Starbucks at the mall by Chapters at 08:15am or in Coldstream on Kalamalka Rd at Lavista Park at 09:00am.

Hope that the weather will cooperate. There is a small store with some basics at Mabel Lake. There is also the option of starting in Lumby for those that would prefer a 70 km round trip; we would still meet at Starbucks or Lavista Park as per the email below.

Summer Sunday Rides

Just to eliminate any confusion that might have started: We will continue to ride at 9am from the Bean Scene on Dickson (Landmark). Bernard is more “parking challenged” than before, and our new start location is safe, it eliminates the highway crossings, it has plenty of space to park as well as have coffee after (inside and outside). See you there!
