Last hike – April 7

Last Sunday’s hike was a lot of fun so I hope all of you can make it out on Sunday April 7 for our last hike before getting on the bikes …

As per usual, we will meet at 9am at the Bean Scene for a nourishing coffee before carpooling to the trailhead.

We will try one of the newer hikes in Kelowna, the Lebanon Park. It is located 5320 Lakeshore Road, with a new parking lot on the east side of the road (we cycle by there all the time).

Starting the hike at 10am from there!

Bike or hike!

I have been told that some Beez will be meeting on Sunday at 10am at the Bean Scene to start the cycling season (some have already been out a few times!). If you are ready to cycle, go join them!

For others, we will be posting some information about another coffee & hike for Sunday morning … for a more gradual transition from skiing to cycling 🙂

Early Season Bike Ride …

… If you are done with skiing (great conditions right now, by the way), join Lawrence on this ride:

“Early season bike ride (circa 50 kms on a flat route).  Meeting at Kelowna Cycle at 2pm Saturday (March 16).”

SEASON FINALE: November 25

After another spectacular hike this past Sunday (guide: Bob), the ski season is slowly but surely starting. Our first day at Sovereign Lake on Saturday was fantastic!

The SEASON FINALE hike will be graciously hosted by Joyce. We will be meeting at the Bean Scene on Dickson at 9am again to have a quick coffee, heading out to Joyce’s house at 1922 Bartley Road (additional parking at the left turn road just before her house; do not park on Bartley Road) around 9:40am. Westsiders can meet us at her house at 10am.

The hike will go along McDougall Rim; distance to be determined. Views should be great again!

Joyce will be making her famous coffee for us afterwards, so please bring some cookies or other snacks, or any other beverage you prefer.

You guys are awesome!!!

One more hike …

We will likely be skiing on Saturday (Sovereign Lake is open!) but are interested in another hike on Sunday. Are you?

Meet at 9am at the Bean Scene again for a coffee, and decide from there where we’d like to go (Myra Bellevue, Rose Valley or Okanagan Mountain Park being options …). It will likely be a 2-2.5hr hike, and we’ll leave the coffee shop around 9:40am. Carpooling encouraged.

Let me know if you’d like to join!

The Hike – Take 2!

Being out in the woods was great but our next hike will be slightly longer 🙂 However, working on bridges is good for team building 😉

Sunday’s hike (Nov 11) will not involve any creek crossings. We are planning to meet at 9am at the Bean Scene (Dickson), enjoy a coffee together, figure out carpooling and leave around 9:40am to either:

  • Spion Kop in Lake Country – about 23min drive from the coffee shop
  • Myra Bellevue Park – about 15min drive from the coffee shop

Both are great hikes with nice trails and should take about 2 hours … Spion Kop has great views while Myra has a multitude of trail options and loops.

Please let me know your preference, and I hope to see you there! Everybody is welcome, including dogs!!!

Pre Party Exercise :)

Since it is unlikely we will be cycling tomorrow morning, there’s another way to get some exercise (and even more social time) in before the party tomorrow afternoon!

Meet at 10am at the Bean Scene – our regular meeting place for Sunday rides.

Have a coffee and then head out for a nice hike …. The ground might be wet and there could even be some sprinkles but it will be nice on the trails anyways! The leaves are still colourful.

Start hiking the Angel Springs Trail at 11am, from the bottom up (park on McCulloch road, coordinates 49.830411, -119.367289).

Then rest before the party 🙂

Everyone is welcome!
