Hike Black Mountain Regional Park on Saturday

On Saturday, October 5th we will hike Black Mountain Regional Park.  This park offers trails through the endangered grasslands on the slopes of Black Mountain and has spectacular views of Kelowna and Okanagan Lake. 

The hike will start at 10 AM sharp from the new Joe Riche Road trail head where there is ample parking available.  Click here for a map of the starting location.  Previously we have started from the Swainson Road trail head so this will offer a new experience.

Start Time Change for Group Rides

Prompted by the cooler weather and shorter days of fall, all Killer Beez Group Rides (except the West Kelowna Friday ride) will start at 10 AM effective immediately.   This means that the Wednesday, October 2nd group ride and all subsequent group rides will start at 10 AM instead of 9 AM.

Enjoy the extra hour of sleep.

Killer Beez Fall Hiking Season Starts

To kick off the Killer Beez 2024 Fall Hiking Program, this Saturday (September 28th), we will be hiking Scenic Canyon Canyon Regional Park on the Mission Creek Greenway.  The hike will start at 9 AM from the Scenic Canyon parking lot on Hollywood Road.  Click here for a map of the starting location.

Summerland Group Ride Scheduled for Friday, September 20th

Michael Malkowski has scheduled a Summerland Group Ride for Friday, September 20th.

The ride will start at 9 AM sharp from the parking lot of Summerland Middle School on Kelly Ave. Click here for a map of the starting location.

The scenic route is 67 km in length with an elevation of 785 m. Click here for a route map.

Carpooling will be available from the Starbucks in West Kelowna between 7:30 and 7:45 AM. Click here for the location.

NOTE: According to DriveBC there may be a 10 minute delay at the landslide north of Summerland, between Callan Road and North Beach Road.

Thursday’s Alice in Wonderland party was a tremendous success.

Reminder: Killer Beez Party This Thursday

This is a reminder to all Killer Beez and their better halve’s about the Un-Birthday Party celebration being held this Thursday, August 15th, starting at 6:30 pm.  It has an Alice in Wonderland theme and is being held at the home of Dale and Mark Fromberg.  Everyone is welcome.  No need to RSVPBring your own beverage and a hat of some kind (Mad Hatter).  If you have any questions or require directions please contact Graham at 250-826-4590.

Time Change for Killer Beez Group Rides

Good new for the the late risers (Bunny, etc).  All Killer Beez group rides will now start at 9 AM, effective immediately.  The heat wave looks to be over so why not catch a few extra  zzzzz.

Also a reminder that the Almost Osoyoos Group Ride (also known as the Oliver Group Ride) is on this Sunday (August 11th).  See the July 25 post for the complete details on the ride.  Hope to see you there.

Announcing the Almost Osoyoos Ride

It’s time we did the popular Almost Osoyoos Group Ride (also known as the Oliver Group Ride) which passes through Oliver and almost reaches Osoyoos.  Click here for a route map. 

This ride will take place on Sunday, August 11th and start from Skaha Lake Park in Penticton at 9 AM sharp.  Click here for the starting location.

Carpooling will be available from Starbucks in Westbank between 7:30 and 7:45 AM on Sunday, August 11th.  Be aware of potential delays at the slide north of Summerland.  Click here for the carpooling location.

This ride is 98 km in total length with 702 m of elevation.  Approximately 30 km of the route is along Hwy 97.  This ride will not be supported so please prepare accordingly and use utmost caution.

To view the content of the Kelowna Killer Beez website, you must read and agree to the following Waiver and Safety Rules that apply to all our rides. Compliance with these rules and the signing of an annual waiver is mandatory in order to participate in our group rides.

  • You are riding at your own risk!
  • All road rules and traffic signals must be followed.
  • A helmet must be worn. It’s the law.
  • You should have liability insurance to cover any potential accidents.
  • All participants must ride single file and in bike lanes where available.
  • Highly visible clothing should be worn at all times while riding.
  • Pass only on the left when it is safe to do so. Passing or pulling up to riders on their right is not permitted.
  • Use of headphones or cell phones while riding is not permitted.
