Welcome to our blog!
Due to the weather forecast, we are moving the Armstrong/Enderby ride to
SATURDAY, September 25!
Everything else stays the same.
This ride is a GO 🙂 Weather forecast looks great for tomorrow so see you at 9am at the Memorial Park!
We are planning on riding the backroads from Armstrong to Enderby (and back via Grindrod) on Saturday, Sept 25. Start time at the Memorial Park in Armstrong at 9am sharp. Washrooms should be open.
Final assessment on the weather will be posted Friday afternoon. Please check the blog.
Since I have been asked a few times in the last few months about another order of arm warmers, I wanted to explore the “real” interest before committing to an order. The arm warmers are great for sun protection as well as some additional warmth when needed. It’s a very lightweight material.
If you would like to purchase a pair of arm warmers as shown, please let me know how many pairs and what size. Medium fits most women (such as Joyce and myself), Large all the men as far as I know (unless you prefer Medium). The cost would be $20/pair if you pick it up at a Sunday ride (the next two Sundays after arrival of package) or $25/pair if you want it mailed. Payment would be via Interac transfer.
Please email me directly with your “expression of interest”. If there is enough interest, I will respond and confirm your order.
With moderate temperatures and a chill in the air at night, it’s time to schedule our annual Rail Trail tour to Coldstream. This year, we will be starting on Wood Lake to add this lakeside section for the first time.
Meet at 10am on Friday Sept 10 in the parking lot at the east end of Woodsdale Road (arrow in the pictures), just before the uphill towards Oyama we have ridden many times.
It’s always a favourite so cancel any non-essential plans and join us 🙂 It is 26km (one way) to the pub in Coldstream for lunch. Pace will be very leisurely. Most of us use a mountain bike or e-bike with sturdy tires but it has been done on a road bike with wider tires as well.
Check the blog on Thursday, September 9, for a weather update.
I think we all have expressed already how much we enjoyed the Kootenay Tour and how much we appreciated Angus and Bunny organizing this (and Andrew providing his bike fixing skills). Thanks again!
I have selected a few highlights and added them to the gallery:

It looks like the heat wave is over and the days are getting shorter. Therefore, effective immediately, the Killer Beez Saturday and Sunday group rides will start at 9 AM (instead of 8 AM) and the Wednesday group ride will start at 4 PM (instead of 8 AM).
A little more sleep is not a bad thing. Now if we could just do something about the smoke.
As we want to continue riding and chatting over coffee, we ask that you only join any of our rides if you are fully vaccinated or it has been at least 2 weeks since your first vaccination.
With rising case counts among unvaccinated residents of the Central Okanagan, we have to limit the rides to those who have protected themselves and the people around them. Safety for our riders is always our first priority, whether on the road or in the coffee shop … we look forward to seeing you after your vaccination.
See you out riding!
We will be meeting for a walk to the famous “ovens” on Friday morning at 8am at the Hollywood Road parking lot for the upper Greenway (click here).
First it’s flat, then a few bumps. If the air quality is 5 or below, we will go!
We are dedicating the group ride on August 14, 2021, to our beloved friend and long-time Killer Bee, Alistair Baillie, who passed away in October 2020. This memorial ride will start at 8am from the Kelowna Cycle parking lot, and the route will incorporate sections from the A ride and the Killer Beez Wednesday night ride which Alistair rode with us many times over the years. Alistair’s kindness, good nature and sense of humour made every ride or activity we shared with him special.
Join us at to share your memories of our dear friend.
OK, we give up.
It’s just too hot to ride at 4:30 pm. Therefore the Killer Beez Wednesday group ride will start at 8:00 AM until further notice from the Kelowna Cycle parking lot.
Come join us for a relaxed 35 km ride around SE Kelowna – followed by coffee and gossip of course.
To view the content of the Kelowna Killer Beez website, you must read and agree to the following Waiver and Safety Rules that apply to all our rides. Compliance with these rules and the signing of an annual waiver is mandatory in order to participate in our group rides.
By clicking “AGREE” you acknowledge that you ride at your own risk and comply with the safety rules.
