One of the all-time favorites, about 90km, hilly and gorgeous.
Meet at Starbucks on Louie Drive in West Kelowna at 7:30am to carpool, or Skaha Lake parking lot for the ride start at 8:30am.
Bring enough water and sunscreen; resupply at Twin Lakes golf course and in OK Falls.
If you have questions, email Graham at [email protected].

From the MS Society:
Hi Kelowna Killer Beez,
The MS Society of Canada’s MS Bike series is the largest cycling series in North America with more than 10,000 cyclists taking part in events from June to September each year. On September 17th and 18th the MS Society of Canada hosts in incredible two-day ride through the bountiful Okanagan Valley called the Scotiabank MS Bike: Okanagan Grape Escape. This fully-supported ride includes meals, snacks, wine and fruit tastings, is fully mapped and marked, has mechanical and first-aid support, and so much more. In addition to being a delicious event, the Scotiabank MS Bike raises funds for multiple sclerosis research, and programs and services to help people with MS to improve their quality of life.
I would like to personally invite the Kelowna Killer Beez to register a team for this event. Registering a team is so easy: simply visit www.msbike.ca and select the Okanagan event. Click “Start a Team” and you are on your way. Even easier is to simply give me a call toll-free at 1-800-268-7582 x7298. Every person who registers and meets the minimum fundraising threshold will receive an MS Bike t-shirt and those who raise more can get some highly coveted riding gear.
We also have three other great rides throughout the province for those who like to travel. Our Fraser Valley ride happens in June,Cowichan Valley in July and West Kootenay in August. If you are unable to join us this year, we ask that you kindly share information about these fantastic events with your membership to help us get the word out.
For more information about our BC Scotiabank MS Bike events please visit www.msbike.ca, or give me a call at 1-800-268-7582x 7298.
Thank you for your consideration, and I hope you will join us this year.
Sincerely,
Katrina Harding

Ride to Mable Lake Provincial Park on Sunday, July 31
depending on the distance people would like to do, there will be two starting points:one in Coldstream just outside of Vernon which will be about 120km round trip, start time 9am from the tennis courts on Kalamalka Road just before Postill Road. We will ride the highway to Lumby and take the turnoff to Mable Lake.
Lumby for a round trip of 70km, start time 10am (notice new start time!), meet at the grocery store parking lot on the rhs as you come into Lumby.
There should be limited traffic on the road to Mable Lake as this road just goes to farms and the park, as we are riding in the middle of the long weekend people travelling to and from the park should be minimal. About half way between Lumby and Mable Lake, BC Hydro has a rest stop by the river which is a good place to stop for a snack. There are no large hills on this ride.
There is a small store at the park, but only the basics there for supplies: water, snacks…
I would like to get an idea of who will be coming with average speed and starting point, please let me know at [email protected] . In the past we have had people interested but concerned they would not have someone of equivalent ability to ride with, I would like everyone to have a good time and be able to ride with someone.
Routes are below.

Looking for a buddy to help me on a long ride…i’m coming into town on Friday (july 15) and need to get a 6 hour ride in (training for IM Tremblant). Anyone in the group open to getting paid to ride with a lonely rider? I’m there with my family, therefore I’m looking to get my ride started around 6am to get it done by noon. Look forward to hearing from this very supportive cycling community. |
Castanet published an update on the fundraising campaign for the Rail Trail (read it here).
