Recently an enterprising swarm of Killer Beez lead by Paul Stephenson (including 2 of our Queen Beez) found a new riding area not currently populated by our main enemy, the automobile.  It’s called South Perimeter Road and is not currently used by cars as it is awaiting it’s second layer of asphalt. 

So get there fast if you want to be able to ride it before it opens to traffic. 

It’s a climb to get there however.  Our Beez buddies took Uplands across Kettle Valley, Southridge, and then Upper Gordon.   Taking Gordon all the way would obviously make for a long, nasty climb.

As in previous years, we do not have an end date for our cycling season … as long as you want to ride, just show up for the Saturday and Sunday rides and find like-minded people.

However, we will be starting our Saturday hikes on October 8 (watch this space for details for our first hike). From that same weekend on (October 8/9), the Saturday and Sunday rides will be starting at 10am … as long as the weather allows. Wednesday rides also continue at 4pm as long as the weather allows

Climbing a hill is usually considered to be a lot less dangerous than descending.  However there is a certain dangerous activity to be aware of when climbing in a tight group or pace line.  Click here for details.

With the weather cooling down (whew, finally), the Killer Beez Saturday and Sunday Group Rides will start at 9 AM (instead of 8 AM).  The Wednesday Group Ride will start at 4 PM (instead of 8 AM).  These changes are effective immediately.

A little more sleep – not a bad thing.

Today (Monday, August 8th) is a Great Day in Killer Beez Land.   

It’s Joyce’s birthday.

For those of you who are memory challenged, this is to remind you to attend Joyce’s Birthday Party this evening.

Time:  5 – 8 PM

Location:  Angus and Sharon’s house at #43 2155 Horizon Drive, West Kelowna.   If the main gate is closed (6pm), dial 43 on the gate phone to have Angus open it.  Phone 250-769-4640 if the gate does not open.

Pot Luck:  Bring an appetizer, finger food or sweet deserty item for sharing with your fellow guests.  A birthday cake will be provided.

BYOB:  Bring your own liquid refreshments.  Coolers filled with ice will be provided.

Your presence is the only present needed.  See you there.

Sorry for any confusion regarding the start time of the Killer Beez Wednesday Group Ride.  It starts at 8 AM from the Kelowna Cycle / Bread Company parking lot at 2949 Pandosy Street.

Due the current heat wave, the start times for the Saturday and Sunday Group Rides will change to 8 AM effective immediately.

As regards you non early riser people, please know that we will revert back to a 9 AM start once the weather cools off.

Here’s a ride for all you early risers.   This special ride (2 hours approximately) will start at the Bean Scene on Dickson Road at 7 AM and proceed through East Kelowna.

Maybe some cold brew coffee in the water bottle might be a good idea.
