Update Green Mountain Ride June 28

It will be a great ride! Please remember the following:

To avoid the heat, we have to leave right on time at 8am from Skaha parking lot (by the tennis courts). That means PLEASE arrive early enough to have time to get ready BEFORE 8am (changing, washroom etc).

We will manage carpooling for single drivers at Starbucks in West Kelowna but have to leave there no later than 7am. If you need a coffee or can offer somebody a ride, please make sure to arrive at 6:45am.

And don’t forget drinks and food, as well as sunscreen. The temps should be pleasant during the ride (approx 8am to 12pm). We will stop at Twin Lakes to refill water/Gatorade but then keep moving.

See you tomorrow!! Bring a towel so we can jump into the lake afterwards!

Special Ride: Green Mountain on Sunday June 28

Better late than never: The ever-popular Green Mountain Ride !

We will meet at Skaha Lake parking lot in Penticton on Sunday morning, ready to start cycling at 8am (early start due to the heat later in the day). We will also be at Starbucks in West Kelowna (Louie Drive) at 7am where single drivers can team up to carpool to Penticton (let’s go green).

Bring food and drinks; refill opportunities are at Twin Lakes Golf Course and in OK Falls. The ride is about 90km long and very scenic.

Special Ride: Armstrong Friday April 3 – It’s ON!

Tom is inviting everybody to join our first “special ride”: We will be meeting at 9:30am in the Armstrong Memorial Park on Friday, April 3.

If the weather is too wet, we will make the decision to cancel by 7:30am the same morning, and a post will be published here on the blog to inform you of the decision. In that case, the ride will be rescheduled for Monday, April 6.

The route will be 75 km or more, if people are interested. The terrain is usually rolling hills and flats. Lunch will be at the Armstrong Anchor Inn following the ride.

Please carpool! Send a comment or email if you’re looking for a ride or can offer one ….

Update 7am: The ride is ON! See you in Armstrong. Bring an extra layer …

Gorgeous Green Mountain Ride!

Green Mountain Ride Sept 7
At Twin Lakes golf course – September 7

This time, we started with 12 boys and a girl 🙂 Had wonderful weather and lots of fun on the latest edition of the Green Mountain ride this past Sunday. Scott even took the time to hang out for an extended nap at the bottom of Green Mountain Road 🙂

Thanks everybody for coming out!

Mabel Lake Ride CANCELLED

Michael and Bob decided that the chance of rain is too great to be riding the Mabel Lake route today (there is no shelter along the way). Join us for the Sunday ride instead, 9am at the Bean Scene headquarters on Dickson Road!

Green Mountain September 7

Another edition of the popular Green Mountain ride! We will be tackling the 95km hilly course again on Sunday, September 7. Meet at Starbucks on Louie Drive in West Kelowna at 8am for car pooling, and start the ride at 9am in Penticton from the Skaha Lake parking lot.

Mabel Lake August 31

From Bob:
Anyone interested in a ride to Mabel Lake on Sunday Aug 31?
There is a choice of starting points: Coldstream, on Kalamalka Rd, just past Kalavista Drive, leaving at 9am. Or in Lumby on Highway 6 at the main grocery store at 9:30am. Round trips would be about 120km from Coldstream or 74 km from Lumby.
It is an excellent ride, no major hills. About 1 km from Mabel Lake park the road turns to gravel, but last year it was very hard packed and easily rideable.  The park has a small store with limited nutrition (pop, chips).  This is the long weekend and as we are riding on Sunday, traffic should be reduced as all the campers going to Mabel Lake will likely be travelling Friday, Saturday or Monday, which is a holiday.
