We tried out the newly paved Rail Trail today! A fast, flat and convenient way to get to UBCO …
As of today, only one small gravel section remains (between Dilworth and McCurdy) but that should also be done in the next few weeks.
Welcome to our blog!
If you can spare some time this weekend, please consider volunteering for the Apple Tri! We are excited to have the event back up and running (with a new course and transition on Bernard!) but they need more bike course marshalls to ensure the safety of the athletes.
Numerous shifts are available, just pick what suits your schedule. Thank you for helping out in your community!

I was just notified by UPS that the arm warmers will be arriving today! So I will bring them to this week’s Sunday ride on July 29 as well as next week.
Please (as per the previous post) use INTERAC via email to pay for your orders or bring cash on Sunday (to make keeping track easiest I will only hand them out after payment š …)! I will put aside the ones for Beez who are away and have emailed me. Email me at [email protected] with questions.
Just an update: The arm warmers are ordered, manufactured and in transit to Kelowna. They will be arriving next Monday, on July 31.
I will distribute them at the Sunday ride on August 5, both before the ride from 8:30am and after the ride from roughly 12pm onwards.
If you cannot make it to the ride, please let me know and we will find another way to get them to you! If you let me know that you will be at the Wednesday ride on August 1, I can also bring your ordered item(s) then.
It would be easiest if you could transfer $15 (CAD, no tax) per ordered pair to [email protected] via online Interac transfer (use the password/hint “killerbeez”). You can also pay in (exact) cash when you pick them up. I will keep track of any online payments, of course.
Still looking to have a few more Beez join into this order of arm warmers … Consider all the advantages:
It has been a long while since we ordered Killer Beez jerseys … and after a recent post-ride discussion, we decided to offer a new item this year: Arm warmers!
As per the picture below, they are uniquely designed with the previous bee mascot but neutral in colour to go with any jersey. They can be worn to keep the warmth in or the sun out, and have a silicone strip to stay in place.
They will be very competitively priced at $15 per pair (no tax). If you would like to order, please email me with the number of pairs and sizes. This is a great gift for yourself, children who cycle, wives/husbands who run or friends who ski! There is no such thing as an “official Beez member” so anybody is welcome to order and wear them with pride.
Sizing: Small fits a Joyce or Biggi. Medium fits Mel or Michael. Large fits Graham or Bob. If you need exact measurements, here are the narrow (wrist)/wide (arm) openings for each size:
Please email me at [email protected] to order. Will figure out distribution later …
Everybody was excited when we discussed potential Beez gear for 2018 … thank you to those who emailed me … but sadly I have heard from only a few so far š
Now that we have the design and arrangements, I need more orders to make it worthwhile! Remember that the price is about half of what they cost in the store …
Please see the original post below for details:

On Friday, June 29, we will go on a different ride (weather permitting).
We will meet at 8:00am at the West Kelowna Starbucks for car pooling, or at 9:00am in Penticton at Skaha Lake Park (Cypress St.).
The ride will start at 9:00am. It will be about 98K.
This is the ride: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14433149
Hope to see you there.
